30 Day Star Wars Challenge: Day Six - Favourite Ship
Ok, so its definitely not day six of my 30 day Star Wars challenge, but no one said which 30 days did they?
So day six is my favourite ship. Now I’m not an expert on ships, much more of people person however I do know a little about this one particular ship which I hold as my favourite because of the smuggler it belongs to. Shadows of the Empire, easily one of my favourite all time Star Wars games, introduces us to Dash Rendar (see past posts for Rendar’s info) as well as the Outrider.
The Outrider is a corellian freighter ship who fell into the hands of the smuggler Dash Rendar, who was given it by the Twi’Lek crime lord Vanya, who Rendar had worked for. Dash made a lot of customisations to the ship itself, such as replacing the engines, and installing an illegal stealth device.
The ship is more than capable of holding its own in battle, it possessed a dual laser cannon the top of ship, two turrets, and a selection of both concussion and standard missiles. Its first sighting was around the time of A New Hope, where Rendar had flown the ship for the Rebel Alliance participating in the Battle of Hoth, as well as attempting to rescue Han Solo from Boba Fett.
Its last appearance was during Rendar’s confrontation with Black Sun leader Prince Xizor over Coruscant. During the battle it was believed that the Outrider was destroyed along with the Skyhook. In fact, Rendar felt that his time with the Alliance was over and decided to take leave without notice.
The fate of the ship is since unknown.
